Primary Election - March 5, 2024
- Nonpresidential primary runoff (if necessary): April 16, 2024
Voter Registration Deadlines
- February 16, 2024 - Final day to hand-deliver voter registration forms.
- February 17, 2024 - Final day to postmark voter registration forms.
- February 19, 2024 - Final day for online voter registration.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines

- February 27, 2024 - Final day to apply for mail-in absentee ballot.
- February 29, 2024 - Last day to apply for an absentee ballot in person.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- March 4, 2024 - Last day to hand-deliver absentee ballot.
- March 5, 2024 - Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon.
General Election - November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline

October 21, 2024 - Deadline to register to vote online.
- Mail-in registrations must also be postmarked by this date.

- October 31, 2024 - Last day to apply for an absentee ballot in person.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- November 4, 2024 - Last day to hand-deliver an absentee ballot.
- November 5, 2024 - Mail-in ballots must be received by noon.
Military and overseas citizens can vote by mail using the standard procedure. Ensure election officials receive your Federal Post Card Application at least 7 days before Election Day via mail or 5 days before if hand-delivered.

Voter ID Laws
- Alabama requires a valid picture ID to vote, though they make some exceptions.
Accepted Credentials
- Here is the list of accepted Voter ID credentials.
Don't have a valid ID?
- If an eligible voter doesn’t have a valid ID - but is positively identified by two election officials - they can swear this information in an affidavit and vote with a regular ballot.
