Presidential Primary Election - March 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- February 24, 2024 - Final day for online voter registration.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines
Request an absentee ballot here.
Ballot Request Deadlines
- February 27, 2024 - Final day to request and return a mail-in absentee ballot application by 5 p.m.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- March 4, 2024 - Absentee ballots must be delivered in person by 12 p.m.
- March 5, 2024 - Absentee ballots mailed in must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
General Election - November 5, 2024
Voter Registration Deadline
- October 26, 2024 - Final day for online voter registration.

- October 29, 2024 - Last day for mail-in absentee ballot applications to be received by 5 p.m.
Ballot Return Deadlines
- November 4, 2024 - Last day for in-person absentee voting at 5 p.m.
- November 5, 2024 - Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Military and overseas citizens can vote by mail using the standard procedure. Ensure your ballot is received by election officials by 8 p.m. on Election Day, or postmarked by Election Day if you reside outside of the U.S.

V. WHAT TO TAKE TO THE POLLS
Voter ID Laws
- Massachusetts requires identification for first-time voters, and sometimes for others. Bring one to be safe.
Accepted Credentials
- Here is the list of accepted credentials.
- Contact your town clerk for a list of acceptable credentials.
Don't have a valid ID?
- If you're a first-time voter who cannot present an ID when you check-in, you may vote a provisional ballot and return with an acceptable ID by the close of polls.
