Add To Our Earth Day Playlist: What's Your Theme Song for Earth?
What song represents our planet best?
In honor of Earth Day, we're reviving a playlist of songs that best define "Earth."
What's your theme song for the planet?
Earth has produced some great songs through its 4.5 billion years of existence.
But which one defines it?
When you think of your home planet, what musical melodies play in your mind? When Earth is introduced to the Galactic Federation of Planets, what song plays as it enters the room?
Check out the playlist from last time below, and then let us know what songs we should add!

Joe Walsh Songs for a Dying Planet
Mercy Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye. Tragically it is STILL RELAVENT 50+ years later. Apparently raping and pillaging the Earth by all those "individuals" that scream how "Christian" they are, how God fearing they are, and how pro life they are do not care about the misery they will inflict on their grandchildren and great grand children. Marvin Gaye was right Mercy Mercy for the Earth.
The Ojibwe Drummers and Singers of Sault Ste. Marie, Bay Mills, and Garden River. Ontario have a song called "AKI QUE" it means the Spirit of the Earth, or Mother Earth. It is so beautiful that I cry when I hear it.
For me personally, I now drive a regenrative hybrid vehicle that greatly improves fuel effiicy and intalled a 12 kW solar system late last year which has saved over 12,000 pooinds of CO2 from being relased into the atmosohere

OK, I am a little cynical and stubborn. I remain very concerned about leaving my granddchildren a climate ravaged world in a couple of decades and for near term profit folks still 'market-talking' the threat away - so once again Johnny Cash: 'Down, down, down into a burning ring of fire"
This information may be of interest to those starting to mull over getting a hybrid:
A hybrid electric vehicle _cannot_be_plugged_in to charge the battery. Instead, the battery is charged through regenerative braking and by the internal combustion engine.
How does regenerative braking work in a hybrid vehicle?
In either a hybrid or all-electric vehicle, the word "regenerative," in terms of regenerative braking, means capturing the vehicle's momentum (kinetic energy) and turning it into electricity that recharges (regenerates) the onboard battery as the vehicle is slowing down and/or stopping.

I have been "celebrating" Earth Day every year since 1970. I know the message has become inter-generational.
The general guiding principles for everyone are Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
This year with the Trumpublican Cult's negativity, lies and greed, and Russian immoral aggressive violence, I am not in the mood for music.
Maybe later I'll watch some post-apocalyptic movies to visualize how unspeakably gruesome things might get and what kind of savage behavior we need to prepare to enact to survive.
Here’s a list I’ll be using. Thinking of starting with Max Mad.

''Life is cheap'' by Flipper
Neil Young's, "Oh Mother Earth"
Eve of destruction
Highway To Hell
The Eve of Destruction, In the Year 2525, What the World Needs Now
I frequently find myself singing "Out in the Country" by 3 Dog Night. "Before the breathing air is gone, before the sun is just a bright spot in the nighttime--I stand alone and take back something worth remembering" just seems to fit the moment.
Michael Jackson's "Earth Song". Powerful and accurate. We're destroying our planet.
The Turtles, "Earth Anthem," 1968 (I think it's on "Battle of the Bands," but it's also streaming on YouTube)
and
Dyado, "Camp Song" 2018 (sample lyric: "Will you hold me together while the world is coming undone / when the wildfires and the acid rain burn"; find it on Bandcamp - you won't be disappointed)
