March For Life Demands National Abortion Ban - Do You?
Do you support a national abortion ban? Tell your reps
What's the story?
- Thousands of anti-abortion activists gathered in Washington, D.C., over the weekend for the annual March for Life rally, the first since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which had guaranteed abortion access nationwide.
- The crowd gathered on what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe to demand that lawmakers pass a nationwide ban on abortion.
- In overturning Roe, the right to abortion access - or banning abortions - was transferred to states.
What’s happened around the country since Roe vs. Wade?
- Following the landmark US Supreme Court ruling, President Joe Biden signed two executive orders to protect abortion access and make it easier for people to travel to other states to obtain reproductive healthcare.
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) increased access to abortion pills in pharmacies and mail-order companies. In response, Alabama announced women who use abortion pills will be prosecuted under the Chemical Engagement of a Child law.
- Earlier this month, the GOP-controlled House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act which could subject doctors who perform abortions to criminal penalties.
- As of January 2023, 13 states have total or near-total abortion bans.
What are the anti-abortion protestors saying?
Right to Life Idaho president Jason Herring said:
"This year was a little different, because this year, we're coming out to celebrate the overturning of Roe and the Dobbs decision last June, but also to pledge to continue our efforts to respect and protect life as this fight is now going to state courts and legislatures, and even ballot initiatives."
The theme of March for Life 2023 was “Next Steps: Marching Forward into a Post-Roe America.” Jeanne Mancini, head of March for Life’s Education and Defense Fund, explained:
“The pro-life movement has just experienced a major victory in the fall of Roe v. Wade, but our work to build a culture of life is far from complete."
What are the abortion rights protesters saying?
- Counter-protests happened in Washington, DC, and around the country. A video posted by Luke Gentile shows abortion rights protesters chanting:
“You don’t care if people die, pro-life is a lie.”
- Tiffany Deems, an abortion rights advocate, attended a counter-protest in Idaho, which prohibits abortion, explaining:
"We believe abortion is healthcare. We don't believe in the laws that Idaho is making for our bodies. So, every time they do this, we're out here protesting against it. There are a lot of really harmful laws already on the books, and people need to know there's a lot of harmful laws trying to pass in the statehouse right now. The GOP is going to come for IVF treatment. They're going to come for your IUDs. Abortion is already illegal here right now. Everybody needs to be aware of that.”

Abortion is not government business! It is private family business. In a democratic government you don't have the government making laws as to wheather or not you will carry and birth a child! If you continue in this direction against women, you will receive a new list of recomendations for mandatory vasectomies and if that doesn't work castrations!
i absolutely do not support a national ban on abortion! or even state bans. until christians stop making all people of all religious affiliations or no affiliation abide by christian rules, we will continue to be in this ridiculous situation.
This is going to sound "cold-hearted" but I support FREE CHOICE even if it means abortion which is an individual choice and NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY of those not personally involved, much less religion and government supporters. Our population is out-growing our planet as it is. We destroy land needed to to build over priced living quarters in lieu of using the land to feed those who are living and breathing on their own. Balance must be maintained if human life is to survive. Wars, diseases, shootings, natural death just isn't doing a good enough job of keeping that balance. Since a fetus is not a breating, fully formed human being, it makes sense to abort if the child is not wanted and won't be taken care of by their parents/parent. Yes, there are those who want children but can't have them for whatever reason but once again. it is a matter of personal choice. I refuse to support the anti-abortion movement. The most important human being is the one who is alive and surviving on their own. These are the ones who need to be allowed to have a roof over their heads, food in their stomachs, clothing to protect them from the elements of nature, education, and health care. The unborn just have to wait their turn for a home in which their soul can be housed, which enters with its first breath and returns to the Univerrse upon its last breath.. Federal and state politicians need to keep their noses out of a woman's vagina and tend to what really matters to those who are walking this earth. I'm not holding myt breath but I am praying as hard as I can.
The irony of women demonstrating in support of policies that have increased infant & maternal death rates in states with restrictive abortion policies!
Comparing public healthcare data from 2018-2020 between restrictive versus non-restrictive states found healthcare had worse outcomes in abortion restrictive states versus non-restrictive states. So now Republican House members propose legislation to force non-restrictive states to degrade their healthcare and also have higher mortality rates ignoring evidence based healthcare.
1) higher rates of maternal mortality
2) higher rates of infant mortality
3) higher death rates for women of reproductive ages
3) fewer maternity providers
4) more maternity care deserts
5) greater racial inequities in healthcare systems
"...public data sources...CDC WONDER birth and death files, Area Health Resources Files, and the March of Dimes maternity care deserts report. We stratified states based on Guttmacher Institute ratings of the restrictiveness of state abortion policies."
"Compared to states where abortion is accessible, states that have banned, are planning to ban, or have otherwise restricted abortion have fewer maternity care providers; more maternity care “deserts”; higher rates of maternal mortality and infant death, especially among women of color; higher overall death rates for women of reproductive age; and greater racial inequities across their health care systems."

A ban won't matter. That's why it is more important is to change the minds of the people so they wouldn't even consider having an abortion in the first place.
This is the same as the gun issue (and many others we are facing today). Until more of the population has a kind, moral, selfless, dare I say Christian, mindset, shootings will happen. So will abortions, theft, adultery, abuse of drugs and alcohol, etc. Without objective morality or accountability, there is no motivation to be good.
Woman are not breeding stock and it's past time those that think they are should stay out of other peoples business.
This is what happens when you let a group of radical extremists have so much influence over a whole political party.
The majority of Americans support at least some level of abortion access for women, so why are politicians listening to groups like these?
Hopefully, people will keep turning out to vote, or this extreme group will get their way and send American women back to the 1850s.
I do NOT support a National Ban on Abortions. It is a WOMAN'S right to choose. The day a man grows a utereus , he can then put his two cents in, until then-STFU!
Send these people back under their rock.
Reinstate access to abortions which must be between her and her medical comunity, not politicans who are not qualified to negotiate the myriad of nuances regarding a woman's health.
Banning abortions puts a target on women for anyone wanting to monetize rape or other nefarious acts.
Mandating a woman to full term will very likely not come with any financial support and jeapordizes her and any existing children.
And, because Roe vs Wade was overturned by a corrupt SCOTUS.
We are trampling all over the rights of women. Without a doubt we need to do something, and we need to do it now. The people in this country support the right to an abortion by women. These right wing zealots, who claim to be for small government love to tell you how to live your life. In a country supposedly founded upon freedom. We are sadly lacking. Since the Republican Taliban control the House, it is highly unlikely that anything will be done to help women in this country. Before you know it, republicans will probably outlaw education for women as well. Look at how stupid Bobert and Green are, that's the kind of women they want.
NO and not only No, but HELL NO!!!! If we're going to ban abortions, which should be a woman's choice, then castrate all men who have a child out of wedlock. In fact, let's go a step further and just castrate all men in states that ban abortion or who oppose abortion and for women who oppose abortion, then surgically render them incapable of bearing children. If we're going to restrict a right to choice, then let's restrict it for those who oppose reproductive rights.
Hell no. Like the majority of people in this country I do NOT support a national abortion ban. It is the wrong thing to do on many levels. It takes a precendented right from women to manage their own bodies and gives it to slack jaw politicians who think that their elected job gives them the right to impose their will and their particular beliefs on others,
I agree with the Roe determination that abortion after a healthy fetus develops to the point of survival outside of the womb with normal medical care, abortion should be limited to cases where the mother's life is put in medical risk if carrying the fetus to term.
Glad to see the Republican nimrods continue to lose any credibility and any reason for the majority of the people to ever see any on them ever get re-elected. Just let them keep talking and keep watching what they collectively do.
Watch how they make profound emotive commentary in support of something they want for their benefactors in one instance and then make an requally profound emotive commentary for the opposite when their benefactors support the other side of the issue. Anyone with principals and professed deep beliefs does not just flip flop their beliefs into the prevailing political winds whenever it is politically expedient to do so.
Listen to the promises they make, write them down and then look to see if they ever even attempted to deliver, and if seems like they did, see if they actually delivered on the promise originally made. Good luck finding much of anything that the Republican Cartel has accomplished for the people of this country, despite the spin..
Frankly, I think that Mother Earth and the US electorate politically should just abort the entire Republican Cartel - it is not a healthy organ within our body politic. They will likely get us all killed in the long term due to the poisons of greed and vanity that is generated in the wake of their self-serving greed and opportunism. They are much like a bad appendix that must be cut out before sepsis sets in.
Do you support a national abortion ban?
No! Absolutely Not!!
Once you start telling me how I am supposed to think, you lost me. If you don't believe in abortions, don't do it. That is your right. Leave me alone. No, I am not a female. But as long as tax dollars are not used for abortions, leave us alone.

Do you support a national abortion ban?
No, I believe woman should have rights over their own lives and that woman's rights are human rights.
One cannot have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness without women having freedom of choice over their own lives. If you misconstrue the right to life as singular, you deny liberty and pursuit of happiness. Again, context matters.
Our constitution states that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Can't have two without the first. Let's be a voice for those who do not have a voice. Let's give women a true choice and an opportunity and resources to raise all of their children.
As the liberals say " It's my body my choice." They didn't agree with that during the lockdowns from covid(Chinese virus). Let the States decide by a democratic vote. That will decide the abortion issue.
